How to upscale a detention

There may be times when you'll need to upscale a detention that has already been set, due to the pupil missing the detention or persistent unacceptable behaviour.

To begin, navigate to the School Settings menu from the 3 lines menu in the top right hand corner and select "Detention types" from the list on the left.

Then click on the pencil icon next to the detention type you would like to enable upscaling for.

You will then be presented with the edit menu for your detention type. If you tick the "Automatically upscale if missed" checkbox, additional options for detention upscaling will appear. You are able to choose which detention type the detention will upscale into, and when should the detention upscale if not marked as attended.
For example, if you were to award the detention type below to a pupil it would automatically upscale into an afterschool detention after an hour if it was not marked as attended. Automatic detention upscaling can only be enabled if the "Set default detention status to pending" option in the "Detentions options" menu has been disabled.

Once the detention has been upscaled it will be shown in the activity feed, and the detention itself will move to the "unscheduled" section of the detentions menu.

If the detention type has been set to allow upscaling, you can also manually force the detention to upscale. In the detentions menu from the 3 lines menu

Simply click on the pupil tile who's detention you would like to escalate. A confirmation popup will appear. Click ok to upscale the detention.

The detention on the current page will display an "upscaled" banner at the bottom the tile.

The upscaled detention with the new time will now appear on the "unscheduled" section of the detentions menu either as a pending detention (if enabled in detention options), or as a not attended detention.
